Canadians are over-taxed and tired. We are also tired of being over-taxed. It’s much harder to get ahead, feel rewarded and motivated, and save for a house and a family when almost half of our income goes to taxes. Even more than half for some.
The average Canadian family spends more on taxes than on shelter and food combined, as illustrated by the Fraser Institute.
The reward we get for living in this country is getting nickel and dimed at every turn and with every fee imaginable. Even success is getting penalized now with a new capital gains tax, and for what? Services?
What services have improved for Canadians in the last 10 years? Is the value for our taxes increasing or decreasing? The delivery of the services meanwhile is costing more than ever.
The quality of education in public schools is alarming, the status of our healthcare should not be acceptable to anyone, the infrastructure in our cities is failing across Canada and euthanasia has become an option if you are just tired of dealing with Canada.
Various levels of government are trying to solve more of the issues in our lives disguised as services - issues they have created to begin with while doing it as inefficiently as possible. Let’s focus on getting fundamental services working perfectly first, they are in dire need of proper attention.
I want good services because I want a good return on my money. It is the logical expectation everyone should have. Good services are also needed for Canada to be a good nation. I want Canada to be a great nation but we need to know what is going on and where our money is going.
Sorry world that includes you too. We have over $8B that goes out every year to foreign aid, plus more for other initiatives and NGOs. There is no accountability for the impact of where the money is going, no KPIs, and no real tracking system. Handing out our cash became a foreign policy.
The hunger we are trying to end elsewhere is happening in Canada at record levels, the homelessness we are trying to end elsewhere is happening in Canada at record levels, and Canadians desperately need the social security we are trying to provide elsewhere.
it’s time for Canada to take care of Canadians. We need to be unapologetically Canadian first.
Our governments need to return to focusing on our core services and doing them well. Modernizing them. Create efficiency and use technology to generate more returns for our taxes.
Every penny of taxpayer dollars spent by every level of government should be on blockchain and visible in a real-time tracking infographic website so every Canadian can look up at any time where their money is going. We deserve transparency and being informed, and our politicians need to stop wasting time in various committees trying to find out how much money went where and to who.
Services can’t be at the expense of wealth generation. Services need to be an aid to economic growth, economic mobility, and financial independence. We can’t help the world out of an impoverished position either.
Canadians need to keep more of the money they earn and governments need to do more with less - just like they expect Canadians to do. The frivolous times must come to an end in the public sector and the era for wealth generation must start for Canadians.
At the end more in overall taxes can be generated because the nation will be more successful and better services can provided because our deliveries will be more efficient. More will be available to increase everyone’s quality of life because we will be in a position of strength.
